Palestinian teen ‘cleared of rape’

Israel, August 2012

RAMALLAH (Ma’an) — A Palestinian teenager has been cleared of attempting to rape an Israeli settler, the head of the Palestinian Prisoners Society said Thursday.

Qaddura Fares said an Israeli court ordered the immediate release of Ali Odeh, 16, after he was found innocent of the charge.

Fares said the teenager had been beaten and interrogated by Israeli police at the Russian Compound in Jerusalem for over a month.

He said settlers employed a strategy of attacking Palestinians with the complicity of Israeli forces.
